Lourdes Yparraguirre is currently the Acting Undersecretary for International Economic Relations. She also recently held the positions of Assistant Secretary in the Maritime and Ocean Affairs Office (2017–2018) and Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations, New York (2015–2017). From 2010 to 2015, she was assigned as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Philippines to Austria and Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations Office in Vienna. As Resident Representative of the Philippines, she was active in various international organizations such as the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, and the International Anti-Corruption Academy. Some of her special assignments include being the Co-Chair for the Philippine Panel in the Philippine-United States Negotiations on Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement in 2014, and Co-Head of the Philippine Delegation to the UN Negotiations on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals from 2015 to 2016. Yparraguirre graduated from Maryknoll College, Quezon City, Philippines, with a BA in International Economics and obtained a Diploma in International Relations and Development (With Distinction) from the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, The Netherlands.
